Daire Patel.
A young Irish artist influenced by Mac Miller and Frank Ocean, Daire Patel combines a hip-hop feel with a lo-fi bedroom pop sound. Of his three 2019 tracks, his Christmas Day release Hold Me Down became a sleeper hit thanks to word of mouth and playlists on both sides of the Atlantic. 2020 kicked off with the exquisite Sirens, immediately appearing on a selection of influential playlists and enjoying radio play on RTE and BBC, as well as being placed on the acclaimed Irish drama shows Kin and Smother. In the latter part of the year, he was invited to take part in RTE's Illuminations project, a cultural response to world events, contributing his collaboration with producer 1000 Beasts, Summer In The City.
2021 saw him play online shows for Music Town and Eye On The Edge festivals, before entering the studio with producer Silent Ghost to begin work on his debut tape Pretty Sweet, the first results of which were found in the single Blue. Live shows alongside artists such as Negro Impacto, Bobbi Arlo, Tebi Rex, Ahmed With Love and Rory Sweeney followed, culminating in his EP Pretty Sweet in November 2022.
Daire continued to release new music throughout 2023 and 2024, including singles like Everything You Say, which showcased his ability to fuse folk and indie elements with hip-hop influences. This track marked the lead single for his highly anticipated debut album What Means The World To You?, due for release later this year. The album reflects Patel’s lyrical exploration of themes such as navigating adulthood and self-discovery while blending genres seamlessly.
