Outsider YP, previously known as Young Phantom and one part of Cork/Tralee hip-hop collective ApocalypsE, struck out with his first official solo release in July 2015. That debut came fresh off a victorious rampage through the Irish gig & festival circuit, including an appearance at Body & Soul. Ever since then he has continued to establish himself as a solo artist and has been featured on the BBC and The Thin Air as well as getting his music aired by SPIN South West, RTE 2MX and more.
This alternative and conceptual artist has continued working and growing ever since, pushing the boundaries of genres with his ever changing music. Inspired by Anime, Manga and comic books, as well as artists such as Lupe Fiasco, Childish Gambino and J. Cole, he has a unique blend of reality and fiction in lyrics delivered in various flows and over unorthodox beats.
He has just released his first music video 'Saddest Day' , shot in the bustling city of Hong Kong, starring fashion designer and aspiring model Sai Wing. The video is shot and edited by 3JBK, a team of videographers and video producers based in Hong Kong. The collaborative effort was scripted and co-directed by Outsider Yp and 3JBK’s Edward Mak. This is the first of a possible many other collaborations between Yp and Asian based creatives. His love of anime and Asian pop culture in general was one of the driving forces behind Yp deciding to attempt to shoot his first music video in Asia.
